Got a Toothache? Try Oil Pulling

Everyone wants to know what I think about oil pulling. Do I oil pull?

As a trusted YouTuber on Natural Lifestyle, Wellness and Yoga, this is one of the top questions I’m asked.

Of course I have oil pulled, and found it time consuming and yucky and I wrote a blog post saying just that.

But.

I am sure you knew there was going to be a “but”.

But.

I recently realized I didn’t invest the time and discomfort into oil pulling because I didn’t NEED to oil pull.

Last week I woke to a low grade fever, a slightly swollen gland on the left side above my throat and a dull ache in a left molar. Later that day a pimple (now mind you I have been blessed by the anti-acne angels and barely ever get a pimple) that throbbed like an enraged boil, emerged on the left cheek hovering over the toothache. I gargled with salt water, cancelled an appointment, took a hot bath and crawled into bed wearing my wool beanie and a flannel shirt.

Exhausted, I fell asleep at 7pm.

Exhausted, I woke at 1am in a fully-body, achey sweat with what may well have been the voice of Dhanvantri, the Lord of Ayurveda, whispering in my ear “You Need to Oil Pull.”

Of course!

I NEED to oil pull.

In the morning (after brushing my teeth) while I dry body brushed and abhyanga-ed, I swished organic sesame oil through each tooth along the whole lower jaw and then along the top. My cheeks were so exhausted, I felt like I’d blown a trumpet all the way to the final bars of a Wynton Marsalis tribute. I spit out the gag-alicious oil then brushed my teeth, scraped my tongue, and flossed.

And yes.

Yes!

I am sure you Smarty Insiders figured this part out.

Over the course of the day the gland went down, the fever subsided, the tooth barely ached and the pimple began to shrink.

After 3 days of this routine, my cheeks were champion strong (oil pulling is also recommended as a wrinkle-free, anti-aging therapy).

As for the toothache? Gone.

Swollen gland? Gone.

Cystic Pimple? Gone.

Go on, ask me again.

Kiki, do you oil pull?

Absolutely!

And to make this new morning ritual even better, our favorite folks at Banyan Botanicals have crafted the Daily Swish – an oil and herbal blend flavored with natural peppermint oil. There really are organic angels watching over us.

So now when you ask me, Kiki, what oil should I use?

Well Friends, try the Daily Swish.
