Photo Diary: The Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Abu Dhabi

UAE Photo Diary #2: The Sheikh Zayed Mosque

Before I travelled to Abu Dhabi, everyone I consulted with who had visited here all agreed I had to visit the Mosque. The Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the 3rd largest in the world and sets the record for the most domes. The design is absolutely breathtaking- He wanted to use the mosque to Unite the World by using design principles and materials from many countries. The mosque is also made up of almost ALL natural materials. It simply is amazing.

It was very peaceful and inspiring to visit. The marble, crystal and inlay work are astounding and the overall architecture has left an indelible image in my mind.

I brought this beautiful Indian motif Hermes scarf from home just to wear at the mosque. Tonight I teach my first class here – so looking forward to share ashtanga yoga around the world.
