Welcoming The New Year in Dubai

Dear Friends,

It really is a small world. Through our friendships and our interests we can have opportunities to travel the world and do things we never could have dreamed of.

I was recently invited to teach yoga in Abu Dhabi which, after sending one email to friends, led to 2 more Abu Dhabi yoga events and workshops in nearby Dubai! The Dubai host, it turns out, is a dry brushing fan! Putting our message out into the community is meaningful. And when we unite that with a desire to support others? Well things can happen so fast it’ll have your head spinning.

I am super excited to travel to a new part of the world, to share yoga and wellness and to share my adventures with you.

New Year Wellness Workshop with Kiki Flynn

January 15, 2016

Kiki Flynn is an international expert in the areas of Wellness, Natural Lifestyle, Yoga and Organic Beauty.

Kiki started her yoga studies in 1982 and now has 34 years of experience, with students ranging from high-profile clients like Madonna and Miley Cyrus, to people with spinal cord injuries. She is the Yoga Program Director for Axis Project a wellness centre for Spinal Cord Injury and for Independence Care Systems.

She began her Ashtanga yoga studies with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 1993 and made more than a dozen trips to study with him at AYRI in Mysore, India. She also hosted Guruji on two of his US visits at her shala in Los Angeles.

Now based in NYC, Kiki is renowned for her popular Yoga and wellness blogs and YouTube videos as “Kiki Says” and her weekly sutra chanting podcasts from Jivamukti NYC.

This will be her first visit to the UAE.

Good Vibrations – Chanting the Yoga Sutra 

Yoga – the Path and the Final Attainment 

Guruji chanted from this text more than any other. Following traditional call and response, we will chant the initial sutras of the first chapter of this foundational text on Yoga Practice. In discussion, we will illuminate the meaning of these sutras and deepen our understanding of Yoga, mind, and practice.

Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series Led Class

Tristhanam and Vinyasa – The Foundation of Ashtanga Yoga.

“Correct asana means correct breathing,” 

 “There is no Yoga without vinyasa.”

   –  Pattabhi Jois

The Ashtanga Yoga method is founded on the techniques of vinyasa and tristhanam. Vinyasa is the application of the breathing/movement system. Tristhanam is the three-part technique of breath/bandhas, gazing, and asana that is implemented throughout practice and is the ground for transformation. The led class will begin with a review of these integral supports and an emphasis on these as we take a led practice.

Looking to Ayurveda and wellness traditions for easy transformational daily supports. These morning rituals will support your New Year’s resolutions and all your health and Yoga goals.
