Photo Diary: Around Abu Dhabi

UAE Photo Diary #4: Around Abu Dhabi

Its hard to believe that up until the 1970s there were no permanent structures in Abu Dhabi. With the investments from newly found oil, the city developed rapidly and lavishly.
I visited the Emirates Palace Hotel with its incredible central dome. I had a healthy and tasty salad of ribbons of vegetables followed by gold wrapped dental floss!

I also checked out the world’s only Gold vending machine. Fortunately it was out of order and I didn’t make any 24k purchases that I might later regret 😉

Next I headed to the souk market at central market. There was a incredible array of spices, incense, nuts and these crocheted palm fiber “dry brush” mitts. There is a long tradition of loofah exfoliating here and I must say, all the Emirati women I’ve seen have luminous skin. Coincidence? I don’t think so!

Now I am lolling by the pool like a lazy traveler and resting up for tonight when I’ll
present a special Wellness and Yoga Event at a palace! And yes, photos to follow.

Tomorrow I’ll be on the road to Dubai for a morning of workshops at Ashtanga Yoga Dubai. And then at midnight, I’ll be on a plane flying back to home base NYC. I am grateful to my teachers and mentors who shared so abundantly that I may now have these opportunities to share around the world. And thank you all for your support which inspires me and encourages me onward.
