Kiki’s Flu-Away Soup

Dear Friends

Even Kiki gets the flu!

I was resting and napping with homemade veggie soup  all weekend.

I regret I did not make a video for you. I just was achy and as lazy as a person could be!

Now I am up and about and planning…. big hugs!

Here’s the Soup..

Kiki’s Flu-Away Soup

All ingredients are organic 😉

2 inches ginger – peeled and sliced

½ an onion sliced thin

2 cloves garlic peeled and slivered

I dried habanero pepper – without seeds – sliced. (If you touch those seeds, don’t touch your eye or lip!)

1 medium potato big chunks

1 kohlrabi big diced

1 small winter type squash big diced

½ teaspoon mineral salt

1 Tablespoon turmeric

Put all ingredients into filtered water – 2/3rds full 2-quart sauce pan. Bring to boil and then let simmer on low near-boil for 30 -minutes.

Crawl back to bed and slip under a nice woolen blanket wearing a comfy giant t-shirt and socks.

After 30 minutes – eat soup!

Crawl back to bed. Sleep

Wake up

Repeat!

All these ingredients are from my weekly farmshare and were already in the fridge. Root veggies give stability and stamina and offer lots of earth’s minerals. They keep us deeply warm. When we cook many things in one pot for a long time – they mingle and predigest and are easier for us to digest.

Garlic, onion, pepper, ginger and turmeric are anti fungal, anti bacterial, and natures generous remedy. Turmeric is a super food. Watch the video here.

Oh, and eat a bite of your homemade sauerkraut. Learn to make it here.

Enjoy. And let me know your version of Flu-Away soup

xo
